In addition to serving as ambassadors and advocates for Girl Scouting in the Heart of PA, the board governs the council through functions that include strategic planning, policy development, and fiduciary oversight. The board is composed of talented business and community leaders from across Northeast and Central PA. Board members are elected by member delegates at the annual meeting.

Adrienne Vicari currently serves as GSHPA Board Chair and previously served as a GSHPA Board of Directors Member-at-Large, and GSHPA Board Treasurer. Formerly as Chair of the GSHPA Property Committee, she worked tirelessly to commit resources to all four GSHPA camp properties. As GSHPA Board Chair, she also serves on the GSHPA Executive Committee and as Ex-Officio to most other committees.
Ms. Vicari serves as the Financial Services Practice Area Leader for Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. She has over 15 years of experience in a broad range of financial, project management, and engineering design services for municipal wastewater, water, and stormwater clients.
In addition, Ms. Vicari has designed water, wastewater and storm water infrastructure projects and has experience with feasibility studies, environmental plans and reports, permit applications, and construction administration.
She has worked with over 90 municipalities in Pennsylvania on Stormwater Utility/Authority feasibility analysis, authority implementation or regional stormwater management initiatives. Her expertise across multiple counties throughout the GSHPA footprint is invaluable to the council.
Jayne Huston serves as Vice Chair to the GSHPA Board of Directors, and members of the GSHPA Executive and Strategic Committees.
She is an advocate for women, small business owners and their success. As a Business and Executive Coach/Vice President with ThistleSea Business Development, LLC, Cranberry Township, (Pittsburgh), she has grown businesses throughout the Commonwealth through coaching, mentoring and consulting services. For the past two decades, women entrepreneurs have benefited from her involvement and technical assistance.
Ms. Huston was the recipient of the Pittsburgh Business Times “Business Women First” Award, the Women of Achievement Award in Pittsburgh, and the Gannon University Small Business Development Center’s Legacy Award at the Women in Leadership Development (WILD) Conference in Erie. She was recognized as the U.S. Small Business Administration Women’s Business Advocate, Region III (Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, DC, and West Virginia); and Pennsylvania Business Central’s “Top 100 People” and “Entrepreneur of the Year” (Non-Profit).
Growing up, Alison Bernhardt was a girl scout for several years and currently serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors, Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee, and a member of the Executive Committee for the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania.
She served on the Board of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC and as Secretary/Treasurer to the Board for UPMC Pinnacle. She received the honor of Central Pennsylvania Business Journal’s Women of Influence and the honor of Women of Excellence.
Ms. Bernhardt is the Senior Vice President, Strategic Financial Operations for Select Medical, and has extensive experience managing financial actions and developing strategic direction for corporations in Central Pennsylvania, including financial forecasting and budgeting as well as analyzing organizations’ financial strengths and weaknesses and proposing corrective actions.
Ms. Bernhardt is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). She is also a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
Ms. Bernhardt lives in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Michael, and their four children. In her free time, she can be found at area basketball courts, baseball diamonds, and soccer fields cheering on her children.
Amy Beamer Murray serves on the GSHPA Volunteer Strategy Committee as well as the Board of Directors as a Member-at-Large.
Ms. Murray is chief operating officer and partner at Pavone Marketing Group, a Harrisburg-based advertising agency. Pavone was founded in 1992 and she was the company’s first employee. Over the years, she worked at Pavone in a variety of roles, including project management, accounting, account service, media planning and public relations.
She is a 1986 graduate of Newport (Pa.) High School and represented Newport High School at Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) in 1984. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Elizabethtown College.
Ms. Murray has been named one of the Central Penn Business Journal’s Forty under 40, Top 25 Women of Influence in Central Pennsylvania, and Women of Excellence. The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development named her one of the Top 50 Business Women in Pennsylvania and as a Rising Star by Elizabethtown College Business Alumni. She serves the community as a member of the board of Caitlin’s Smiles; seminar volunteer for Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY); classroom volunteer for Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania; and as a guest speaker at numerous high schools, colleges, universities, and community groups.
Sara Anne Boddery is a Member-at-Large of the Board of Directors and currently serves on the Fund Development Committee.
Sara is a Global Managing Director at the software company Blackbaud. Before joining Blackbaud 11 years ago, Sara Anne's career was with nonprofits and she worked in various roles with organizations, such as the Florida State University Foundation and Leadership Florida. Most notably, she spent over five years as the Executive Director of Connect Florida, whose mission is to educate, engage and inspire the state's top emerging leaders. Having worked for the better part of two decades with nonprofit organizations, she has a deep knowledge of board management and fundraising and looks forward to leveraging this experience to benefit our Board.
Since moving from Florida to Pennsylvania, Sara Anne has been eager to find an opportunity to give back to the community, with an organization whose cause aligns with her personal values. Also, in her most recent position with Blackbaud, she no longer has a sales role, which finally allows her to become involved with a nonprofit without any conflict of interest. Although she did not participate in Girl Scouts growing up, she is very familiar with the program through her friends and their daughters and has an admiration for Girl Scouts. Sara Anne would love to help support efforts towards the empowerment of girls and young women, and the Girl Scouts has a clear impact in this area.

Kate Dieffenbach Firestine serves on the Strategic Planning Committee and is a Member-at-Large for the Board of Directors.
Kate is the Senior Vice President, Health at the global communications firm Edelman. Prior to her current role, Kate served as a Director, US Corporate Affairs at AstraZeneca for almost two years, and previous to that, she was an Associate Director, Corporate Affairs at Endo International. She possesses a strong business acumen and expertise in communications.
Kate was a Girl Scout in her childhood and participated through Juniors, which is why she is excited about being a part of GSHPA's Board of Directors. The Girl Scout mission of empowering and inspiring girls and young women to be strong leaders resonates strongly with her. She has extensive experience volunteering with community organizations as well as with her family’s business foundation. Kate believes that she is now at a point in her career where she has the business acumen and professional experience to leverage to add value as a board member.
Kate lives in Lancaster, PA, and is an entrepreneur on the side, running a business called Home Designs by Kate.
Liz Brown joined the Strategic Planning Committee in 2021, and as part of the committee helped shepherd the COVID-19 recovery strategic plan and is now working with the committee to shape our next 3-year GSHPA council strategic plan. She also serves as a Board of Directors Member-at-Large as well as the Executive Committee.
Ms. Brown joined Little League International as the Senior Director of Marketing Partnerships in 2009, was promoted to Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships in 2011, and then Vice President of Marketing and Communications in 2016. She was named Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications in 2018, as the first woman at Little League International to hold the Senior Vice President title.
In 2015, Sports Business Journal named Ms. Brown a Game Changer Honoree, recognizing the accomplishments of women in the sports business.
In addition to her work for Little League International, Ms. Brown is also a Little League mom and local league volunteer in Lewisburg (Pa.). She and her husband reside in Lewisburg with their two children.
Scott Ehrig serves on the GSHPA Fund Development Committee as well as a Member-at-Large to the Board of Directors.
Scott Ehrig is the Senior Vice President, Chief Investment & Trust Officer at F&M Trust, overseeing five department heads. As a senior executive of the firm, Scott is deeply involved with setting corporate strategy and advancing mission-critical initiatives and is also an active participant on the ITS investment committee. Under his leadership, the investment and trust services division of F&M Trust has surpassed $1.1 billion in assets.
Prior to F&M Trust, Mr. Ehrig held progressively more responsible fiduciary investment management roles with both regional firms and well-respected national institutions. Prior affiliations include JPMorgan, First Commonwealth Trust Co., and M&T/Wilmington Trust.
Mr. Ehrig earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and an MBA from the Simon School of Business (Rochester) and further refined his acumen by successfully completing the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) professional designations. He has lectured on economics and finance at the collegiate level, and taught fiduciary investment management to aspiring trust officers and portfolio managers at the Pennsylvania Banker's Association Trust School and the Cannon Financial Institute's Accredited Fiduciary Investment Manager (AFIM®) investment school.
Mr. Ehrig has a strong sense of civic responsibility, currently serving as a trustee of his church, active membership in the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, three terms on the board of the Harrisburg Symphony Association, and recently joined the Tocqueville Society of the United Way.
Betsy Keefer is a GSHPA Board of Directors Member-at-Large and currently serves as the GSHPA Fund Development Committee Chair.
Ms. Keefer’s 40-year career with the Girl Scouts began in Akron, Ohio and included multiple CEO roles in Springfield, Massachusetts; Southwestern Connecticut and Penn Laurel Council in York, Pennsylvania, as well as interim CEO for Girl Scout councils in Boston, Massachusetts; Jackson, Mississippi; and Madison, Wisconsin. During her tenure as CEO of Hemlock Girl Scout Council, the council had one of the first successful Girl Scout Council capital campaigns in the country, which resulted in the addition of the program center to the council office on Hale Ave. As the National Director of Council Services with GSUSA, she oversaw the development of management resources and consulting for local councils.
Betsy Keefer graduated with a Social Services degree from Hiram College, and a Master’s of Education from Kent State University. She has completed many non-profit leadership courses at Harvard University, Case Western Reserve University, and Claremont Graduate University.
She is a member of the York Symphony Board of Directors, the York County Literacy Council Board of Directors, and the Embracing Aging Committee of the York County Community Foundation. In addition, she volunteers for the Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children (CASA), the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO), and the United Way of York County.
Dawn Kirchner-King serves on the GSHPA Property Committee as well as a Member-at-Large to the Board of Directors.
Dawn brings her experience as a high-level female executive in technology to help further the mission of GSHPA. She is aware of the challenges many women face to get in high-level leadership positions. Because of this, Dawn is passionate about building girls up to become leaders and she has a particular interest in steering girls towards STEM.
Dawn serves as the Senior Vice President of Information Technology at Carlisle Companies. Prior to this, Dawn served as a Senior Vice President & Global Chief Information Officer of Armstrong Building Products, a division of Armstrong World Industries. Previously, she was an Executive IT Advisor/Managing Director at Hartman Executive Advisors and served as an AVP of Information Systems at Donegal Insurance Group. Dawn has an impressive background as an IT leadership executive with more than three decades of experience in leveraging technology to drive organizational growth, performance, and profitability.
In addition, Dawn is the 2020 Philly CIO of the Year Orbie Award Winner, and 2021 & 2022 National CIO of the Year Nominee & 2021 Finalist. Dawn has served on the board of directors for organizations such as Arktura Ventures, Victim Assistance Center, InspireCIO, was a United Way Ambassador, and was recognized in 2015 as one of the Central PA Women of Influence.
Introduced to Girl Scouts as a Brownie, Tena Maurer remembers the fun experiences from her Girl Scout childhood days and as an adult, she has been a troop leader. Her most memorable experiences have been spending weekends at Camp Small Valley and traveling to Washington, DC in 2012 to Rock the Mall to celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouts with 250,000 other Girls Scouts . She serves as a Member-at-Large to the Board of Directors and as a member of the Board Development Committee.
Ms. Maurer is the Associate Vice President for Human Resources at Bloomsburg University and brings over twenty years of experience in a variety of Human Resource areas and industries in both the public and private sectors. She serves on the Board for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Faculty Health and Welfare Fund and is a member of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Board of Advisors for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
A Pennsylvania State University graduate in Business Management, she then received her Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from Saint Francis University and holds several HR-related certifications including Professional in Human Resources (PHR) from HRCI and The Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) certified professional in Human Resources.
Ms. Mauer is an active volunteer in the community and coaching youth sports.
Kathy McCorkle’s love for Girl Scouts began in 1953 when she started as a girl member. She continued with Girl Scouts as a Girl Scout Camp Counselor for three years and a Day Camp Director for one year. In 1979, she held the position of Troop Overnight Camping Adjunct Leader.
A former GSHPA Board Chair, she continues to serve as Chair of the GSHPA Board Development Committee, Ex-Officio to the GSHPA Board of Directors and also serves on the GSHPA Fund Development Committee.
She has experience as a Nursery School Director, High School Mathematics Teacher, Educational Administrator, and Architectural Technologist/Historic Preservationist. Most recently, she was the CEO of the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg and the Executive Director of the Dauphin County Historical Society.
Mrs. McCorkle has earned the Adult Volunteer of the Year Award from United Way of the Capital Region and the Women of Excellence Legacy Honoree from the YWCA Greater Harrisburg.
Renee Mattei Montgomery was a Girl Scout for 12 years, from Brownie through Ambassador, as well as a volunteer for over 15 years including service as a troop leader and service unit lead. She serves on the GSHPA Board of Directors as a Member-at-Large and as a member of the Volunteer Strategy Committee.
At Eckert Seamans, Mrs. Montgomery focuses her practice on a wide variety of labor and employment matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout Pennsylvania and serves as the chair of the firm’s Associates Committee. She has experience defending employers against discrimination claims under Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.
Mrs. Montgomery served on the Dauphin County Bar Association (DCBA) as a Board Member, Personnel Committee Chair, and Past President. She served as a mentor for the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Commission on Women in the Profession Mentoring Program. Her additional community involvement includes Salvation Army Harrisburg, Women Involved, United Way, Women’s Leadership Network, National Multiple Sclerosis Society Leadership Council, and Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.
Mary Pochobradsky serves on the GSHPA Fund Development Committee as well as a Member-at-Large to the Board of Directors.
Mary knows the Girl Scouts well because her daughter was a Girl Scout. She would like to use her experience as an entrepreneur and corporation leader to support GSHPA’s meaningful mission.
Mary is the CEO of Pochobradsky Enterprises, LLC, a company that advises Private Equity and privately owned brands and businesses on potential deals, growth strategy, brand strategy, consumer insight, innovation, and integrated marketing communications challenges. Prior to starting the company two years ago, Mary served as a VP of Product & Innovation at Nutrisystem, Inc., and before that, she was an Executive Director of Brand Strategy & Integrated Marketing at The Hershey Company. Previously, she spent 23 years at Proctor & Gamble, in which she held various roles, including General Manager, Chief Brand Officer, and Brand Director.
Mary grew up as a competitive athlete, and in her career, worked her way up the corporate ladder to become an executive leader; she believes being a female in these roles came with more challenges than her male counterparts. This is the foundation for Mary's motivation to support efforts to empower women and mentor girls to be successful.
Daren Russ currently serves as GSHPA Board of Directors Member-At-Large, Chair of the GSHPA Strategic Planning Committee, and member of the GSHPA Executive Committee.
He comes to the GSHPA board with a depth of experience in the food industry. Most of that time spent at The Hershey Company focusing heavily on Innovation and Brand Management. In 2016, Mr. Russ joined Ahold Delhaize with a focus on GIANT/MARTINS. While at GIANT, he has held a variety of leadership positions to include Director Business Analytics, Director Strategy & Innovation, Chief of Staff to the President, Director of eCommerce Operations, and Vice President of Omnichannel Operations.
Daren and his wife Maria have resided in Central Pennsylvania for last 15 years and are the proud parents of Gabriella, Juliet, and Andrew.
As Chair of the GSHPA Property Committee, Dan Sheaffer leads the efforts to revitalize camps and outdoor experiences for girls across the GSHPA 30 county footprint. He offers his expertise as an At-Large Member of the GSHPA Board of Directors and as a member of the GSHPA Board Development and Executive Committees.
Dan Sheaffer is the Corporate Purchasing Manager with Mountain Ridge Metals. With 20+ years of financial and sales management, he has demonstrated exceptional achievements in increasing revenue and employee performance while leading teams of varying sizes and in multiple markets to include all operations, financial results, and strategic direction.
Mr. Sheaffer serves as a Board member for the Halifax Wildcat Education Foundation and a Catalyst Awards Committee Member for the Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Gina Suydam serves as a Member-at-Large to the GSHPA Board of Directors and Chair of the GSHPA Volunteer Strategy Committee. Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, Girl Scouts was one of the few extracurricular activities that was accessible to her. She participated in scouting for 11 years and earned her Silver and Gold Awards. She enjoyed camping at Camp Archbald, service projects, cookie sales, and most importantly the lifelong friends she made in scouting.
Ms. Suydam is the President/CEO of the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce. She collaborates with other Wyoming County organizations on a Community Heart & Soul initiative, a humanities-based approach to community planning sponsored in part by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. She is currently facilitating the sixth annual class of Leadership Wyoming, a regional leadership program that she implemented to develop a more complete awareness of Wyoming County’s industries amongst local professionals.
She serves on the board of the Pennsylvania Association of Chamber Professionals, Northeast Sight Services, and Wyoming County Community Alliance. She participates with the Northern Tier Partnership for Regional Economic Performance assisting with economic development and represents the county on the regional Economic Development Agency at the request of the Wyoming County Commissioners. She was named one of Northeast Pennsylvania’s Top 25 Women in Business in 2017 by the Northeast PA Business Journal.
Deborah Vereen is a former Chair of the GSHPA Board Development Committee, current Member-at-Large to the GSHPA Board of Directors, and serves as a member of the GSHPA Volunteer Strategy Committee.
Ms. Vereen is a strategic thinker with experience in designing and implementing Diversity initiatives, training & development, and inclusionary processes in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. She earned the unique double credential status of CCDP/AP (Cornell Certified Diversity Professional/Advanced Practitioner) from Cornell University.
Ms. Vereen is the recipient of the Corporate Citizenship Diversity Award, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission; the Keystone Award for Community Service, the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association; the Women of Excellence Award, YWCA; The Seed of Hope Award, PA Educational & Entrepreneurial Youth Program. Selected as one of the most “Influential Inclusion Leaders” of Central PA; she has received the Business Diversity Champion Award from the Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Leadership in Diversity Award from The Conference for Women.
Ms. Vereen is co-founder of the Diversity & Inclusion Professionals of Central PA (DIPCPA) and she serves on the Board of Directors of the Diversity Advisory Council of the Human Resource Professionals of Central PA (HRPCPA).
Ami Zumkhawala-Cook continues to serve on the GSHPA Strategic Planning Committee and as a Member-at-Large to the Board of Directors.
Ms. Zumkhawala-Cook is a transformative healthcare executive for The Northridge Consulting Group with 20+ years of experience in the global health care industry, she delivers people, process, and technology solutions. She works with the highest levels of an organization providing strategy, management consulting and operations expertise while working with diverse teams and complex business cultures.
She earned a Bachelor of Philosophy degree with a concentration in biomedical ethics from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and a Master’s degree from Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio) in Business Administration and Health Services Administration.
Ms. Zumkhawala-Cook currently serves as the Camp Hill Borough Appointed Trustee of The Cleve J. Fredricksen Library. She serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Leadership Harrisburg Area, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Capital Region through servant leadership and effective community service. A graduate of Leadership Harrisburg Area’s Executive Leadership Series Class of 2013, she served two terms on the Board of Leadership Cumberland.
